- 798 g Granny Smith apples
- 60 g Caster sugar
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- 150 g Plain flour
- 102 g Cold unsalted butter
- 75 g Demerara sugar
- 50 g Rolled oats
- 6 ml Vanilla extract
- 0.9 g Nutmeg
- 300 ml Cream

Preheat oven
Preheat oven to 190°C.

Peel, core and chop
Peel, core and chop the apples into 2cm chunks, then toss with caster sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and 1 tbsp flour.

Spread
Spread in a baking dish.

Rub the cold cubed butter
Using just your fingertips, rub the cold cubed butter into the flour — keep squashing and rubbing until the mixture looks like coarse breadcrumbs with no big lumps of butter left.

Stir in the demerara sugar
Stir in the demerara sugar and rolled oats.

Assemble and Bake
Scatter the crumble topping over the apples in an even layer — keep it loose for crunchier results. Bake for 35 minutes until golden and bubbling.

Rest the crumble for 5 minutes. Serve warm with custard, vanilla ice cream, or a drizzle of cream.
